Why do I need to use a Torque Multiplier?
The tightening torque of the crankshaft bolt is so high, that it is essential to be equipped with this tool.
The torque multiplier is critical to the proper removal and installation of the crankshaft pulley bolt on Ford 1.0L-1.11. Ecoboost engines.
The crankshaft pulley bolt is tightened to a very high torque. Once the flywheel has been locked (using the crankshaft locking tool in the FORD 1.0/1.1 ECOBOOST timing kit), simply position the gearbox bracket in place of the transmission bracket and then position
the gearbox with the associated sleeve. The crankshaft pulley bolt is tightened in stages to obtain a high torque final load (in compliance with the manufacturer's data).
The installation pattern of the gearbox is the same when reassembling and tightening the crankshaft bolt.
The force exerted on the bolt is so great that it is imperative to replace the bolt with a new one.
The tightening method includes the use of a torque wrench, then the torque multiplier. Timing/engine applications: 1.0 EcoBoost belt-in-oil (2012-2018), 1.0 EcoBoost chain (2017-) and 1.1 naturally-aspirated engines..
